Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Manwill Big in Sweep

OREM, Utah – True freshman Camie Manwill had 17 kills and only one error, hitting a career-high .571 to lead Utah Valley State to a sweep of North Dakota State, 30-22, 30-17, 30-22, Thursday night.

"It was Camie's night," said head coach Sam Atoa. "She played a phenomenal match. Everything she touched went down."

Not only was it Manwill's night, but it was Utah Valley State's night hitting a team best .330 in the match. The Wolverines set the tone early recording a .455 hitting percentage in the first set. Brooke Adams and Jessica Endres complimented Manwill and kept the Bison off balance with 10 kills apiece.

"This was the best match we've played all year," said Atoa. "We got into a rhythm and they couldn't stop us."

It comes at a good time, as the Wolverines play South Dakota State Friday night, and then prepare for the Division I Independent Tournament next weekend.

Game one started close, but the Wolverines started to pull away and forced a NDSU timeout at 14-10. UV went on a 6-3 run after the break to extend its lead to 20-13, but the Bison battled back, cutting the lead to 22-18. The Wolverines would call a timeout to regroup, and it worked in the form of a 4-1 run. The Bison would only score two more points the rest of the way securing the 30-22 UV win.

The Wolverines took control of game two early with a 10-4 lead. UV would maintain a six point lead at 19-13, when NDSU wanted to take a break. The intermission wouldn't give NDSU the breather they needed as the Wolverines took advantage and extended their lead to eight points at 24-16, before another Bison timeout. UV would go on a 6-1 run to close out the set 30-17.

Game three went UV's way as well. The Wolverines didn't want to stay longer then they needed to and they made the statement early in the final set. Endres had four kills and Adams had three to lead the charge, and a late 8-0 run closed out the game and the match.

Utah Valley State will host South Dakota State on "Senior Night" Friday at 7:00 pm. Seniors Maegan Hoyt and Anne Olsen will be honored before the match.
