LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - The Utah Valley State softball team dropped three games in the Hilton Las Cruces Classic on Sunday. Utah Valley lost 9-1 to Texas-Arlington, 5-0 to Kansas and 4-3 to UMKC.????
Utah Valley State-??s Rachel Hartgrove made the All-Tournament team. She was impressive at second base and short stop in the five-game tournament.??This weekend was the first time Hartgrove played short stop.??Offensively she hit .438 and had seven hits, five of which were doubles.????

Utah Valley had an opportunity to beat UMKC. They led 3-0 through six innings. The run in the first came after Amanda Kendzior bunted home Hartgrove. Hartgrove started the inning with a double off the center field fence.??
The Wolverines upped their lead to 3-0 with two more runs in the sixth inning. But things fell apart for Utah Valley when they committed two errors and gave up four hits and four runs. ??
On the mound, Jackie Roberts went the distance against UMKC. She scattered eight hits and struck out two batters.??

Against Texas Arlington, the Wolverines trailed 2-1 after Kelli Wilkins scored a run in the top of sixth inning. But in the bottom half of the inning, Texas-Arlington scored seven runs to seal the win. ????
The Wolverines stayed close with Kansas. The Jayhawks scored two runs in the first inning and three in the sixth. Utah Valley was unable to get anything going offensively as they had only three hits for the game.

The Wolverines are back in action on Saturday against Northwest Nazarene. ????
