Wolverines Win Fourth Straight

Caldwell, Idaho - The Utah Valley State softball won its fourth straight game on Sunday by beating Albertson College 4-3 and 6-0. The Wolverines hit the ball well in both games. As a team, Utah Valley cranked out nine multiple base hits. In one game, the Wolverines had four triples and in game 2, they had four doubles and one triple.

-??They played clean and they didn-??t make mistakes,-?? Utah Valley coach Todd Fairbourne said on his teams play. -??We got ourselves out of clutch situations. It is what you need to do to win games.-??

In game 1, the Wolverines trailed 2-1 after the top of the fourth inning. They took a 3-2 lead in the fifth before Albertsons-?? tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth. In the bottom half of the inning Rachel Hartgrove and Crystal Young hit back-to-back triples to seal the win.

Hartgrove went 3-for-4 in both games.

In game 2, Ericka Jones tossed a six-hit complete game while striking out four batters and allowing no walks. The trio of Hartgrove, Young and Amanda Kendzior combined to go 7-for-12 at the plate.

Fairbourne also added that Shea Seever stepped in and played good this weekend. Seever had a hit in four of the five games this weekend.

The Wolverines scored one run in the second, two in the third and one in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Utah Valley is back in action on March 12 against Albertson College.
