Orem, Utah - The Utah Valley State softball opened is 2005 home season by splitting a double header with Utah State on Friday. The Wolverines won the first game 4-2 before dropping the second game 8-6.

Fairbourne was pleased with the production he got from the bottom of the order. In the six through nine spots of the order the Wolverines had 10 hits in the two games.

In Utah Valley-??s win Jackie Roberts scattered seven hits and struck out five Aggie batters in seven innings of work. Amanda Kendzior led the Wolverines from the plate, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
With Utah State leading 2-1 after the third inning, the Wolverines scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead for good at 3-2.
Crystal Young led the inning off with a single to left field. Kendzior then drilled a 2-run homerun over the right-center fence to give Utah Valley the lead. Chris Jimenez scored a run in the fifth to up the lead to 4-2.
In game 2, Utah Valley State fell behind 5-1 after the top of the third inning. In the bottom half the inning the Wolverine bats erupted for five runs to take a 6-5 lead.
Utah State tied the game at six in the top of the sixth inning and then added two runs in the seventh for the win.

The Wolverines play Albertson College on Saturday at Noon in a doubleheader.
