CEDAR CITY, Utah - Due to snow and rain showers umpires called the second game of a double header between Utah Valley State and SUU in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied at 4-4. In the first game, Utah Valley blew an 8-0 lead and lost 10-9 in eight innings.

The loss and the tie gives the Wolverines an 8-17-1 record. Weather has hampered play for the Wolverines over the past 10 days. Monday was the first time Utah Valley has played since March 18. During that time three games have been cancelled and one has been postponed.
In the 4-4 tie, Crystal Young hit two homeruns and reached base twice on walks. Rachel Hartgrove and Shyanne Cooper also had multiple hits in the game.
Hartgrove, Young, Amanda Kendzior and Chris Jimenez also had multiple hits in the extra inning loss.
Utah Valley State looked to have jumped out to a comfortable 8-0 lead after the top of the sixth inning. But as soon as the Wolverines jumped out to their lead the Thunderbirds rallied to tie the game at nine at the end of seven innings and scored the winning run in the eighth inning.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Kelli Wilkins led off the inning with a double to right field. Jimenez then singled to center field to score Wilkins. On the play, Jimenez advanced to third on a wild throw to home plate. Hartgrove then scored Jimenez on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Young then singled and later scored on a double by Kendzior. Kendzior would then give Utah Valley a 4-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Katie Welling.
The Wolverines added another four runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-0 lead. With one out Utah Valley scored all four runs thanks to doubles by Hartgrove and Sara Roskelley, singles by Cooper and Wilkins and a triple by Jimenez.
But SUU rallied with five runs in the bottom of the sixth, fourth in the seventh before scoring the winning run in the eighth inning.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning of game 2, Crystal Young hit a homerun over the centerfield fence in the second and third inning to give Utah Valley State a 2-1 lead. The Wolverines upped their lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning thanks to a two-out double by Jimenez. Jimenez then scored on off a Hartgrove single to right-center field.
The Thunderbirds-?? added three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead 4-3. The Wolverines tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth when Cooper had a one-out double. She later scored on a single by Emily Cardenas
Utah Valley State is back in action on Wednesday at BYU-??s Miller Park.
