PROVO, Utah - The Utah Valley State softball team lost 8-0 in six-innings to BYU Wednesday at Miller Park. BYU pitcher Summer Tobias tossed a perfect game by striking out eight Wolverine batters.
Emily Cardenas nearly broke up the gem in the sixth inning when she hit a blooper over the pitchers mound. But BYU shortstop Jodi Norton tossed a ball to first while lying on the ground to preserve the perfect game.
After three innings of play the Wolverines only trailed 3-0. But the Cougars added a run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and two in the sixth to earn the win.
Utah Valley travels to Reno, Nevada for the Wolf Pack Tourney April 1-3. They will play McNeese State, Nevada and Pacific in the three-day tournament. They return home April 6 for a double header against the University of Utah.
