Wolverines Drop Two Games in Reno

RENO, Nevada - The Utah Valley State softball team dropped its first two games in the Wolf Pack Tourney on Friday. The Wolverines hung tough before losing 5-1 to McNeese State and 4-1 to Nevada.

In the loss to McNeese State Rachel Hartgrove hit a solo-homerun over centerfield for the Wolverines only run in the seventh inning. Against Nevada, Utah Valley-??s only run came in the seventh when Emily Cardenas singled home Tanda Stewart.

-??We had chances but couldn-??t convert,-?? Utah Valley coach Todd Fairbourne said.

Despite the loss, Fairbourne said freshman pitcher Chelsey Mikalauski pitched her best game of the year against Nevada.

-??I realize it doesn-??t show in the score book but she showed she has the ability to pitch against the top teams and keep us in the game,-?? Fairbourne said. -??She kept us in the game.-??

Utah Valley plays Pacific at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
