Pacific Box Score: McNeese State Box Score : Season Stats
RENO, Nevada - The Utah Valley State softball team dropped two more games at the Wolf Pack Tourney on Saturday. The Wolverines lost 11-2 Pacific and 5-2 to McNeese State. Utah Valley plays Nevada in the consolation game of the tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Against Pacific, the Wolverines jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kelli Wilkins led off the inning with a double and later scored on a single by Crystal Young. Pacific then took a 2-1 lead before Rachel Hartgrove hit a solo homerun to tie the game at 2-2 in the third inning.
But Pacific countered by scoring five runs in the bottom of third and fourth in the fifth inning to seal the win.
In the second game of the day the Wolverines hung tough with McNeese State. Once again, Utah Valley jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a leadoff triple by Wilkins. Wilkins quickly scored one-batter later on a sacrifice by Chris Jimenez.
McNeese took a 3-1 lead in the third before Utah Valley State cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth inning when Wilkins scored her second run of the game.
Following Sunday-??s game, the Wolverines host Utah on Wednesday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
