GREELEY, Colorado - The nine hour bus ride home from Northern Colorado is going to be an enjoyable one for the Utah Valley State softball team. On Sunday, the Wolverines swept the Northern Colorado 7-4 in eight innings and then won game two 8-5.
The two wins meant the Wolverines took three of four from Northern Colorado this weekend. Utah Valley also took five of eight from UNC this year.
In the two games, Utah Valley State coach Todd Fairbourne got great production through out the entire order.
In the 7-4 win, Chris Jimenez, Rachel Hartgrove, Jackie Roberts and Emily Cardenas all had two or more hits. Roberts led the offensive attack with three hits, including a homerun in the eighth inning to seal the win.
In the second game, Jimenez had three hits and Amanda Kendzior had two hits.
In both games Utah Valley jumped on the scoreboard first with three runs. The Wolverines also never trailed in the two games.

In game one, Utah Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning following hits by Jimenez, Hartgrove and Roberts. Wilkins also reached base on a fielding error by Northern Colorado.
After Northern Colorado tied the game at three in the second inning, the Wolverines retook the lead at 4-3 in the fourth inning following an RBI single by Emily Cardenas.
Northern Colorado tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning. Utah Valley had a chance to win the game in the seventh after Wilkins, Jimenez and Hartgrove all reached base with two outs. But on Hartgrove-??s single, Wilkins was thrown out at the plate.
In the eighth inning, Hartgrove scored on an RBI by JaNae Wright. Two batters later Roberts hit her two-run to seal the win for Utah Valley.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings in game two and cruised to the 8-5 win. Roberts earned the win in game one while Chelsey Mikalauski picked up the win in the first game.
Utah Valley State returns to action with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 30th at Utah State. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
