RENO, Nevada - The Utah Valley State women's basketball team dropped a 74-59 contest at Nevada Thursday night, ending its two-game winning streak.
The Wolverines (7-11) struggled offensively, shooting just 19-for-56 (34%) percent from the field while turning the ball over 25 times.
Sandy Marvin led Utah Valley with 13 points while Sabrina Keys and Dellena Criner each scored 14 for Nevada.
The Wolfpack seized control of the game using an 11-4 run midway through the first half to take a 24-15 lead.
The lead was stretched to 12 at 33-21 for the biggest lead of the 1st half. The Wolverines went into the break down 38-28.
After the Wolfpack scored first in the second half to take a 40-28 lead, Utah Valley State went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to two on a Miriam Palkki jumper, but that's as close as they would come as Nevada used a 13-5 run to put the lead back into double digits.
Foul trouble limited Wolverine freshman Robyn Fairbanks to just six points, including a scoreless first half in just six minutes after she picked up two quick fouls.
Palkki and Hollie Beaman both added nine points for the Wolverines while Ashley Grimm had eight points and five rebounds.
The Wolverines will have nearly a week off before a two game road trip to Southern California next week. They will take on Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, January 26 before going up against UC Riverside Saturday afternoon.
