Utah Valley State travels to Texas for the Lone Star Duals this Saturday the 7th. They will take on four tough opponents in duals beginning with Harvard at 9:00am MST. The remaining opponents are all ranked in their respective divisions, including #3 Oklahoma and Central Oklahoma, the 5th ranked team in Division-II.
"For the most part our guys are wrestling well," said Utah Valley State coach Cody Sanderson. "This is going to be a tough weekend, but based on the character and personality of our wrestlers, we will go after everyone and make it a fight."
With the exception of senior Erkin Tadzhimetov, the Wolverines haven't competed since the Reno Tournament of Champions on December 18th. Tadzhimetov wrestled in the Midlands Tournament in Evanston, Illinois on December 29-30, finishing 4th in the invitation only event.
Utah Valley State is 0-2 so far in duals this season after losing the opener to #7 Iowa State 33-9, then falling at home to #17 (Division-II) Western State in a close bout 22-16.
The Wolverines will be busy wrestling eight duals in the next 10 days. Following the Lone Star Duals they will take on Portland State next Wednesday the 11th in Portland, then compete in the Oregon Classic in Bend, Oregon on January 13th. They will take on Oregon and Pacific (Oregon) in duals at that event before returning for a home match against Northern Colorado on Monday, January 16th.
