FORT WAYNE, Indiana - Utah Valley State shot just 26% in the second half on its way to an 84-60 loss at IPFW on Wednesday in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With star freshman Robyn Fairbanks on the bench for all but six minutes of the second half, the Wolverines could not find the bucket and were outscored 48-28 in the half.

Fairbanks, who entered the game averaging 18 points per game, picked up her fourth foul with IPFW up 45-41 with 14:27 to go. From there the Mastodons went on a 16-6 run to take a 61-47 lead with 8:43 remaining.

Fairbanks re-entered the game and cut the lead to 10 at 61-51 but picked up her 5th foul on the ensuing possession and finished with 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting in 17 minutes of action.

Miriam Palkki cut the lead to eight points at 66-58 with 4:53 to go but that is as close as UV would come as IPFW closed the game on an 18-2 run.

Sandy Marvin and Miriam Palkki both scored 10 points for the Wolverines, who drop to 11-15 on the season with the loss.

IPFW, who moves to 6-12 and has won four of its last five games, was led by Johnna Lewis-Carlisle's 26 points and Ashley Johnson's 20 points and eight rebounds.

In the first half the Mastodons used a 17-0 run early to turn a 5-2 deficit into a 19-5 lead. Utah Valley State roared back though, using a 15-2 run to cut the lead to 21-20 with just over nine minutes remaining in the half.

The game was tied at 32 after a bucket by UV's Kaydee Allred, but IPFW scored on consecutive possessions to take a 36-32 lead into the break.
