Norman, OK - The Utah Valley State softball team was held to five hits in two games and lost 7-0 to North Texas and 14-1 in five innings to No. 14 Oklahoma in the final day of the OU Worth Invitational on Sunday. Utah Valley is now 5-14.
Rachel Hartgrove had three hits on the day while Emily Zupan and Lauren Eppich had the other two hits.
Against North Texas, Heidi Boyer kept the Mean Green offense in check through three and 2/3 innings allowing only one hit and no runs. With two outs in the fourth inning, Utah Valley committed one error and North Texas had three hits to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
North Texas added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Rachel Hartgrove had the Wolverines only hit in the game.
In the final game against the Sooners, the Wolverines gave up two unearned runs in the first inning. The Sooners led 3-0 after two innings.
UV answered with one run in the third inning. With one out Jimenez reached base on an error by the Oklahoma catcher. One batter later Jimenez scored on a single up the middle by Hartgrove.
Oklahoma then scored 11 runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
