Salt Lake City, UT- The Utah Valley State softball team ended its season with two losses to the University of Utah on Wednesday. The Wolverines finished their season with a 15-36 record after a 10-0 six inning defeat and a 6-4 loss in the second game. Despite the losses the Wolverines still improved on last years 13-36-1 record.

Rachel Hartgrove ended her career on a high note by going three for three in her final game as a Wolverine. Emily Zupan also went two for four with an RBI in her final game too.
As a team the Wolverines had 10 hits in the two games, nine coming in the final game.
In the 10-0 loss, the Utes jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings. Utah scored four runs in the third and two in the fourth to take 6-0 lead going into the fifth. In the sixth Devina Quintero hit a grand slam to end the game. Ute pitcher Meghan Dyer struck out nine Wolverine batters in five innings of work. Dyer-??s only hit she allowed was a single to Heidi Boyer in the fifth inning.
In the second game, Utah Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the top half of the first inning. With one out Cari Hamilton and Hartgrove each had back-to-back singles. Heidi Boyer then hit into a fielders choice to put runners at the corners.
Hamilton scored the first run when she stole home on a double steal. The second run came when a Zupan single down the right field line scored Boyer.
Utah then countered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
The Utah lead didn-??t last long as the Wolverines came right back and regained the lead at 4-3 after the second inning. The inning started with a double to left-center by Natalie Paulsen. Then with two outs Hamilton and Hartgrove both walked to load the bases. Boyer followed the two walks with a two-RBI single to right field that scored Hamilton and Lindsey Phelps, who was pinch running for Paulsen.
The Wolverines maintained the 4-3 lead until the Utes scored three runs in the fifth to take the 6-4 lead.
