POCATELLO, Idaho - After losing the first two games by scores of 31-29 and 30-28, Utah Valley State came back to win the next three sets, 30-27, 30-24, 15-6, and sneak away from Pocatello with a victory over Idaho State Wednesday night.
"This was a great comeback win for our girls," said head coach Sam Atoa. "I was very proud of the way they battled."
It was the first win for the Wolverines over ISU in three meetings and it extended the UV win streak to four matches.
Four UV spikers recorded double-doubles on the night and senior setter Lacee Koelliker distributed the ball to six different teammates for kills.
Camie Manwill and Jessica Endres both tallied match-highs with 19 kills apiece. They both finished in double figure digs with 20 and 14, respectively.
Ashley Brown and Ashley Dallin joined the offensive barage with 13 and 12 kills, and Dallin recorded a team-high 22 digs. Koelliker had 58 assists, but didn't let chances to attack pass her by putting down six kills of her own while hitting .462.
As a team the Wolverines hit .213 to ISU's .163, including a match-high .357 hitting parade in the finale set to close out the match.
The Wolverines (5-3) welcome three schools to the Shurian Family Activity Center this weekend for the annual LaQuinta Invitational. Oral Roberts, IPFW, and in-state rival Weber State come to Orem Friday and Saturday. UV plays Weber Friday night at 7:00 pm, Oral Roberts on Saturday at 1:30 pm and IPFW in the final match on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
