CEDAR CITY, Utah - Julie McMurray matched a career high with 23 points and set a school record with seven steals as Utah Valley moved to 3-0 for the first time in school history with a 75-55 win over Southern Utah on Thursday night in Cedar City.
Sandy Marvin had 21 points including 15 in the first half as UV built a 42-20 halftime lead and coasted to the win, their first at Southern Utah in three tries.
"Her intensity on both ends was a catalyst for us getting some good transition opportunities," said head coach Cathy Nixon of Marvin. "This was an important step for us coming in here and getting a big win on the road."
Utah Valley trailed just once in the ballgame, 2-0, before Marvin rattled off seven straight points to give the Wolverines the lead for good.
Robyn Fairbanks chipped in 13 points while Rebekah Peterson added 10. Anne Westwood, SUU's top scorer coming in, was held to just six points but had 18 rebounds. Caitlyn Sears led the T-Birds with 13 points.
So far this season, Utah Valley has beaten its opponents by an average of 28 points, winning by 20 points or more in all three games.
The Wolverines hit 48.4% from the floor for the game compared to just 29.9% by Southern Utah.
Up next for Utah Valley is UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at 3:05pm in the McKay Center. The Anteaters defeated the Wolverines last season in Irvine by 14.
