OREM, Utah - Utah Valley University's wrestling team hits the road again this week as the Wolverines (0-1) schedule doesn't lighten up as they will begin the week grappling at No. 13 Boise State (3-0) Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
The following night UVU will be in Portland to take on Portland State (1-1) and Simon Fraser of Burnaby, B.C., Canada in double-duals action beginning at 6 p.m. (MT). To round out the week Utah Valley will take part at the Best of the West Open in Central Point, Ore., Sat., Nov. 22.
"Taking on Boise State is a great opportunity for us to wrestling another top-caliber team," UVU head wrestling coach Greg Williams said. "At Boise all of our guys will be challenged and it's a great opportunity to see what we learned from last week (against Iowa State) and to now put it into action. Against Portland State and Simon Fraser our guys will have a good chance to be very successful with the things we have been working on."
Coming off of their first loss of the season last week at No. 2 Iowa State (39-0), UVU will be tested immediately Wednesday evening at No. 13 Boise State. The Broncos are undefeated on the young season beating Northern Colorado, Great Falls and Montana State - Northern. The Broncos also captured six titles last weekend at the Cowboy Open in Laramie, Wyo.
The night after facing Boise State, Utah Valley will take on Portland State in Portland. Last season in UVU's final dual meet of the season the Wolverines downed the Vikings in Orem in impressive fashion, 35-9. Also at Portland State UVU will square off against Simon Fraser for the first time.
Concluding the Northwest road trip the Wolverines will battle against some good competition at the Best of the West Open on Saturday. Some schools that will be there include Oregon State, Boise State, and host school Southern Oregon.
