OREM, Utah - Behind six home runs in two games, Utah State took two from Utah Valley, 11-2 and 8-2, in the Wolverines first games against an in-state foe.

UV falls to 5-19 with the two losses while USU improves to 5-17. The same two teams will play another double header on April 1 in Logan.

In game one, the Aggies scored in four of the five innings played. USU jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run homer. The Wolverines got a run back in the bottom half of the inning when Meghan Woodworth was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored on a Heidi Stocks double.

Utah State answered back with four in the top of the second to build a large lead. The second UV run came in the bottom of the third when Woodworth singled, stole another base and scored on a RBI single by Cherylyn McGraw.

That was all for the Wolverines as the Aggies scored one in the fourth and four in the fifth and held UV scoreless to win by the run rule.

In the second game, USU got on the board first in the first frame. Kelley Kaneshiro hit a solo homer, her second on the day, to put the Aggies ahead 1-0. McGraw answered the call in the bottom half of the inning with a solo shot of her own, her second in the game.

UV ran into some defensive troubles as the Aggies were able to plate three unearned runs to jump to an 8-1 lead. The Wolverines' were held off the bases, scattering just three hits through the game. Stocks hit her team-leading third home run in the bottom of the seventh, but it proved to be too little as the Aggies retired the next three batters to win the game.

The Wolverines will return to action when they welcome Utah to MSTAR Field Saturday. The single game is slated for a noon first pitch.
