OREM, Utah - Utah Valley snapped a two-match losing streak and improved to 5-1 in Great West Conference play with a 25-14, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18 victory over Texas-Pan American Thursday night.

The Wolverines (13-7, 5-1) are now 13-1 all-time against the Lady Broncs and they have now won nine straight matches in the series.

Also, Jaicee Kuresa finished with eight kills, while Sarah Clement had six kills and six block assists, and Erica Nish had six kills and two service aces.

"I thought that we executed very well. Our serving was very, very aggressive and it took them out of their system," UVU volleyball coach Sam Atoa said. "We converted off those created opportunities."

Manwill and Jones served the Wolverines to the early 5-1 lead in the first set. Texas-Pan American (4-15, 2-6) answered with three straight points to cut the lead to one, but that was as close as they would get.

At one point, the Wolverines scored six straight points. In the set, Nish had her first career ace. Along with the ace Nish had four kills as did Manwill. Broadbent led UVU with five kills in the set.

As a team, the Wolverines hit at .517 (18-29).

The second set was similar to the first. UVU jumped out to a 4-1 lead with Kathleen Stevens serving. After UTPA pulled within a point, the Wolverines pulled away by scoring seven of the next eight points, and four of them came on UTPA attack errors. The Lady Broncs hit .031 (9-32) in the set, while UVU hit at .257 (14-35).

The UVU lead got as high as nine points on a kill by Kuresa. Broadbent, Kuresa and Fa'alogo had three kills each in the set, and Manwill had five digs.

The Wolverines got down 9-2 in the third set and never fully recovered. They pulled to within three at 13-10 and trailing 24-17 cut the lead to three again with four straight points on kills by Clement and Broadbent, a service ace by Manwill and a UTPA attack error.

UVU hit .159 (14-44) in the set, while UTPA hit at .306 (15-36).
