Complete Release in PDF Format

OREM, Utah - Utah Valley University's wrestling team begins its dual slate this week as they are headed to the East Coast to matchup against Gardner-Webb and UNC Greensboro in Greensboro, N.C., on Thursday, and at NC State, in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday. Saturday the Wolverines will wrap-up their road trip by participating in NC State's Wolfpack Open.

All three duals will mark the first meetings between the squads all-time, as UVU has never previously wrestled any of these schools.

Last year UVU went 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the Western Wrestling Conference. The 11 wins set a new school record for most wins in a season. This year the Wolverines have eight of their 10 starters back from last year's team and will be looking to continue their success.

UVU is led by junior Benjamin Kjar (125-pounds) who is currently ranked 11th in the country by intermat. Kjar is 2-1 on the season after he finished second at the Cowboy Open last weekend in Laramie, Wyo.

Thursday the Wolverines will be in Greensboro, N.C. to take on both Gardner-Webb at 3:30 p.m. (MT), on neutral ground, and then UNC Greensboro, on its home mat, at 5 p.m. (MT). The Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb (Independent) are 0-4 on the young season after lopsided loses to Chattanooga, North Carolina, No. 20 Virginia, and Virginia Tech. The meeting with the Spartans of UNC Greensboro (Southern Conference) will be their first dual of the season as they are 0-0 coming in. Friday night at 5 p.m. (MT) UVU will lock heads with the Wolfpack of NC State in Raleigh. NC State, of the ACC, is 1-0 on the season with a 21-18 win over The Citadel.

Saturday the Wolverines will conclude their trip by taking part in the Wolfpack Open. Last weekend UVU had seven wrestlers place in the top three at the Cowboy Open. Updated results from Saturday's Wolfpack Open can be found by visiting TrackWrestling.com or by CLICKING HERE.

Following this weekend's action, UVU will next participate at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas on Dec. 4-5.
