Wolverines To Take on Three Opponents this Weekend at Lone Star Duals

ARLINGTON, Texas - Utah Valley University's wrestling squad will take part in the Lone Star Duals in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, as the Wolverines will dual against No. 22 Arizona State, Brown, and Harvard.

UVU is 3-0 in dual action on the year and will look to build on its early season success on Saturday. The Lone Star Duals will be UVU's final non-conference tune-up, as the Wolverines will begin their Western Wrestling Conference slate on Jan. 28 at Air Force.

On Saturday Utah Valley will first go up against the Brown Bears (2-1) of the Ivy League at 9 a.m. MT. The Bears, who have won their last two duals, defeated Hofstra (18-17) in their most recent matchup on Jan. 9. UVU is 0-1 all-time against Brown.

The Wolverines will then take-on the Harvard Crimson (2-3-1, 0-0 in the Ivy League) at 5 p.m. The Crimson are coming off a 20-20 tie at Hofstra (January 9). Harvard has a pair of wrestlers ranked in the national Top 20, including No. 1 J.P. O'Connor (17-0) at 157 pounds and No. 7 Louis Caputo (8-2) at 184. The Wolverines are 1-1 all-time against the Crimson.

In the nightcap at 7 p.m., UVU will conclude its Lone Star Duals by going one-on-one with the nationally ranked Arizona State Sun Devils (4-4, 3-0 Pac-10). The Sun Devils are led by junior Anthony Robles at 125-pounds who is ranked No. 3 in the country. Also ranked for ASU is Heavyweight Erik Nye (No. 16) and Chris Drouin is also No. 16 at 141 pounds. UVU is 0-1 all-time against ASU.

The Wolverines are led by junior Benjamin Kjar who is ranked No. 15 at 125-pounds. Kjar is 19-5 on the year and 3-0 in duals.
