OGDEN, Utah - Utah Valley's Kyli Flanary continued her stellar performance on the diamond this weekend by picking up two more wins on Saturday to help lead the Wolverines (18-24, 11-5 PCSC) to a doubleheader sweep over in-state rival Weber State by scores of 4-3 and 8-0 (5 innings). For the weekend the Wolverines ended up sweeping the four-game PCSC series over the Wildcats (12-34, 3-13 PCSC) to keep their PCSC Mountain Division title chances alive.

Flanary finished the weekend with a 3-0 record and a 1.47 ERA. On Saturday only she pitched a complete game shutout in the second game of the doubleheader and earlier in the day she came on in relief in a tied game and pitched the final two and a third innings of one-hit, scoreless ball. For the day she pitched 7.1 innings allowed just five hits, no runs and struck out five.

"Flanary stepped up big for us this weekend," UVU head coach Todd Fairbourne said. "She had really struggled as of late while Josi Summers had been carrying us. With Josi having an off weekend, Kyli really picked up the slack."

"We started right where we left of on Friday as everyone was producing in the lineup including Yocom who we were pleased to have back in the lineup. Overall the girls stepped up and played some great ball this weekend."

UVU won both games with walk-off hits. The first game of the day Amanda Robinson ended it with a walk-off double while in the second game Korryn Coates finished it with an eight run-rule walk-off double.

The first game was all tied up at 3-3 heading into the last of the seventh. Meghan Yocom led off the inning with a walk and two batters later Robinson drove home Yocom with a double to win the game 4-3.

In the first game Robinson led the way offensively as she went 2-for-3 with a walk-off double and a home run. Deinna Russell had the other run batted in for UVU in the game as she went 1-for-3 with a first inning RBI.

The Wolverines led the second game just 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth when the offensive delivered a six spot to win via the run-rule.

Mandy Tapia started the scoring for UVU as she picked up an RBI single to center in the second inning. In the third Yocom led off the frame with a triple to right and Robinson later scored her on an RBI groundout.

After Flanary continued to mow down Wildcat hitters through five, Yocom stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth with one out and sparked a six-run rally by blasting a solo homer.

Seven consecutive batters then reached base and Coates ended the game with a run-rule walk-off double that scored Mairaea Tanielu. Also in the inning, Amanda Perez had a two-RBI double and Tanielu added a two-RBI single.

Yocom, Perez and Tanielu all finished with two hits apiece in the game, while Tapia led the way with three as she went a perfect 3-for-3.

"That second game of the doubleheader might have been our best all around game that we've played all season long," Fairbourne stated. "The girls did everything right from top to bottom in all aspects of the game."

"For the second year in a row we'll most likely head to the final week of the season with a chance to win the PCSC Mountain Division. Portland State and Northern Colorado split today and if they split again on Sunday we will control our own destiny next weekend at home against Idaho State."

If PSU and UNC split their Sunday doubleheader in Greeley, Colo., all three teams will be tied at 9-5 in conference and UVU will also hold the tiebreaker over both squads.

Before next weekend's big final PCSC series of the season at home against Idaho State, the Wolverines will host in-state rival BYU in their home opener at the newly renovated Wolverine Field Tuesday at 5 p.m.

As a note this year's PCSC Mountain Division champion will host the PCSC Championships on May 13-14.
