OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's soccer team scored a pair of second half goals to pick up a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Bakersfield Friday night to remain unbeaten at Clyde Field.
Â
The Wolverines improve to 8-4-2 overall and 3-1-0 in the WAC. Bakersfield falls to 1-11-1 overall, 0-3-0 in league play. Utah Valley holds an unbeaten record of 6-0-2 at home this year.
Â
Bakersfield scored early to take a 1-0 lead after Jess Moorehead sent in a corner kick to Maja Green, who headed the ball into the back of the net in the fifth minute of play.
Â
Utah Valley scored the equalizer in the 66
th minute after
Taylor Kirk lofted a short pass to

Â
Kim Stratford scored the game winner for the Wolverines in the 72
nd minute as she rebounded a saved shot by teammate
Sydney Fitzpatrick and put it in the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
Â
"After we gave up that early goal, I felt that we got too focused on scoring and tried to force the ball in quite a bit," said Utah Valley head coach
Brent Anderson. "Bakersfield is a disciplined team and they were well positioned. We made a little adjustment at halftime where we stretched it out a little more in the second half and I think that is what got us the goals."
Â
The Wolverines out-shot Bakersfield 20-4, including a 13-0 advantage in the second half. UVU recorded 14 of its shots on goal while limiting the 'Runners to just one shot on goal. Ten different Wolverines registered a shot on the night.
Lexi Robison and Anderson led UVU with four shots each.
Â
Utah Valley continues play at home on Sunday as the team welcomes Grand Canyon to Clyde Field. Opening kick is set for 2 p.m. MT.
Â
"The WAC is good competition," Anderson said. "You have to bring your very best game week after week or you will struggle. We've got another great team in Grand Canyon coming in on Sunday. We are happy to be playing them here at home. This is a great field and we play great here."
