OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Grand Canyon Sunday at Clyde Field, bringing UVU's home field unbeaten streak to a halt at eight matches.
Â
The Wolverines fall to 8-5-2 overall and 3-2-0 in WAC play. Grand Canyon improves to 3-8-1 on the season and 2-2-0 in the conference.
Â
Grand Canyon got on the scoreboard early as Milla Benedetti rebounded a
Jessica Duffin save and put it in the back of the net just 1:44 into the match. Jessica Valadez was credited with the assist on the score.

Â
The 'Lopes scored an insurance goal in the 86
th minute as Patricia Pape broke loose on the left side of the box and put the ball in the net for the score. Ashly Hilfer earned the assist after making a nice pass from the right side to set up Pape.
Â
Kali Stubbs and
Taylor Kirk led the Wolverines with four shots each. Kirk recorded three of her four shots on goal. Duffin led UVU with a pair of saves in the box.
Â
Next up for the Wolverines will be a matchup on Friday, Oct. 17 at Texas-Pan American. The match is set to kickoff at 6 p.m. MT.
