Marcel Davis led the Utah Valley University men's basketball team with seven points, five rebounds and three assists in a 64-43 setback to UC Davis Saturday night at the Pavilion in Davis, Calif.

Utah Valley falls to 3-2 with the loss, while UC Davis improves to a perfect 5-0. The game marked the fourth of seven straight road games for the Wolverines, who continue road play on Monday at Sacramento State.

UC Davis got off to a quick start, taking a 20-3 lead midway through the first half. The Wolverines did cut the Aggie lead to 11 points late in the first half, but couldn't get any closer as UC Davis extended its lead to as my as 24 points in the second half.

"I give all the credit and effort that UC Davis played against us tonight," said Utah Valley head coach
Dick Hunsaker. "They came out and took the game to us and we did not respond well. Hopefully this is a game that we can learn from and know that when teams come to play Utah Valley they will come at us and bring their best. UC Davis really out played us in every facet of the game."

Davis scored his team-high seven points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field, including a 2-of-4 clip from the charity stripe.

Eli Robison each added six points in the loss.
Mitch Bruneel led the Wolverines with a game-high five assists.

Corey Hawkins led three UC Davis players in double figures with a game-high 18 points.

UC Davis shot 51.9 percent (27-for-52) from the field and knocked down seven three-point field goals. The Aggies held Utah Valley to a 29.4 percent clip from the field on the night.

Utah Valley continues play on the road Monday at Sacramento State. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. (MT).
