Live Video vs. USUOREM, Utah – The Utah Valley University volleyball team will conclude its home season with three matches over the next five days at the PE Building. The Wolverines will begin the stretch with WAC contests against Chicago State and Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, before welcoming in-state rival Utah State on Monday for Senior Night.
Â
Thursday and Monday's matches will begin at 7 p.m. while Saturday's will take place at noon. Live video and stats will be available for all three contests by visiting
WolverineGreen.com. Monday's home finale against the Aggies will also be televised live locally on
UVU TV as well as simulcast on the
WAC Digital Network.
Â
The Wolverines will enter the homestand with a 10-16 overall record and currently in fifth place in the WAC standings with a 5-5 conference clip. UVU split a pair of league matches on the road last week as it topped Texas-Pan American in four sets before falling at New Mexico State on Saturday in four games as well.
Â
In the victory over UTPA, sophomore Macky Treanor led the way with a season-high 19 kills. Junior
Lauren Bakker was the lone other Wolverines in double figures in kills as she recorded 12 along with six blocks. As a team, UVU out-hit the Broncs .250 to .152 and held a 66 to 51 side-out percentage advantage.
Â
Two days later, UVU dropped a four-set contest to second-place NM State in Las Cruces despite out-hitting the Aggies -- .195 to .141 -- and recording five more team blocks than NMSU (16 to 11). Treanor once again led the Wolverines in the contest with 14 kills while Bakker added seven kills and seven blocks. With one solo block in the match, Bakker tied Jessica Endres (2004-07) for the all-time lead in career solo blocks at Utah Valley with 46. Bakker will now enter the weekend just one solo block shy of becoming UVU's all-time leader in that category as well as 11 shy of becoming the program's all-time leader in both block assists and total blocks.
Â
Treanor leads the Wolverines in kills on the season with a 2.80 per set average while Bakker paces the team in blocks (1.16), hitting percentage (.344) and points (320.5). Senior
McKenna Tait paces the squad in both digs (4.63) and aces (0.46) and her 0.46 per set average in aces is good enough to lead the WAC and rank her 18th in the nation in that category.
Â
Five seniors will be honored prior to Monday's match against the Aggies as Tait,
Jaramey Barney,
Jen Hardman,
Kalani Norris and
Cassie Wahlin will all play their final home match that evening.
