Chad Ross scored 10 points with a career-high five rebounds to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team in a 74-49 setback to Sacramento State Saturday night at the UCCU Center.

With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 4-8 on the season. The game marked just the fourth home game of the season for the Wolverines who are now 2-2 at the UCCU Center this season. Sacramento State improves to 6-5 on the season.

Utah Valley went into halftime trailing by only six points, 38-32. UVU then got within two points, 38-36, with 16:55 to play. The Hornets then responded with a 15-2 run to capture a lead they would continue to build upon for the victory.

Ross was the lone UVU player to score in double figures, tallying 10 points on a 3-of-5 clip from the field, including a 1-of-1 mark from beyond the arc. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 at the charity stripe.

Mitch Bruneel scored nine points, hitting 4-of-7 shots from the field.
Marcel Davis helped with seven points while
Cory Cardwell added a career-high six points.

Dylan Garrity led Sacramento State with a game-high 28 points. He knocked down 8-of-9 shots from the field, including six threes. Mikh McKinney was also in double figures for the Hornets with 13 points.

"Sacramento State was terrific tonight," said Utah Valley head coach
Dick Hunsaker. "(Dylan) Garrity was superb. (Mikh) McKinney flawlessly ran the show for them and just took us apart. We've got to get back to the practice court and get back to work."

Sacramento State shot 55.8 percent from the field on the night while limiting Utah Valley to a 32.7 percent clip. The Wolverines struggled in the second half from the field, connecting on 20 percent of their shots. The Hornets hit 10-of-17 threes while UVU went 5-for-27 from long range.
