OREM, Utah – Utah Valley University men's soccer returns to Clyde Field on Friday to host Gonzaga University at 7:30 p.m. MT. The match will follow the Wolverine women's soccer contest against UTEP at 5 p.m. MT and is part of Homecoming Week at UVU.

The Wolverines (1-2-0) were on the wrong side of a pair of one-nil results last weekend in Chicago. A match at DePaul was postponed from Friday until Saturday after storms wreaked havoc in the area and left UVU with just a 24-hour turnaround before facing Loyola Chicago. Scoreless for much of the match, a late own goal was the difference in the loss on Sunday against LUC.

"I was pleased with our team's performance in Chicago, even though we lost both matches on own-goals. The challenge is now to respond individually and collectively as a team," said UVU head coach Greg Maas.

In the program's inaugural match on Aug. 30 against UMass, 2,610 fans witnessed a 5-1 win in a contest that aired live on NSCAAtv.com. Five different Wolverine players scored goals with four coming before halftime in the historic win.

Gonzaga is coming off of a 2-1 loss at Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday and is in the midst of four straight road contests that concludes at Cal on Sunday in Berkeley. The Bulldogs' early-season schedule has included a contest with No. 10 Washington.

"Gonzaga is a very good team with a strong tradition behind them — they will pose a tremendous test for our players," Maas said. "Our UVU student-body is quickly establishing Clyde Field as one of the most difficult venues in collegiate soccer. Honestly, I can't wait for our Homecoming match in front of 3,000 soccer-crazed 12th Wolverines!"

As part of Homecoming Week at UVU, there will be a tailgate during the women's game as well as food trucks throughout the evening. There will also be post match fireworks shot off from Wolverine Crossing on the west side of I-15.

Next week the Wolverines host Denver, which is ranked 25th in the latest NSCAA poll, on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. After Friday's match with Gonzaga, two of the next three opponents on the schedule are currently ranked including No. 9 UC Irvine, who the Wolverines will meet in Las Vegas on Sept. 28.
