Utah Valley opens WAC play at Seattle U

SEATTLE—WAC play begins on Saturday as the Utah Valley University women's basketball team takes on Seattle U in their first conference matchup of the season at 3 p.m. MT.
 
The Wolverines (6-9) are 0-3 all-time against the Redhawks (3-12), with their last contest being Feb. 13, 2014 at Seattle U 69-65. As of Jan. 7, Utah Valley ranks No. 5 in the WAC while Seattle U sits at No. 6.
 
Utah Valley enters the contest following a tight 66-61 loss delivered by Southern Utah, their last non-WAC foe of the season. Utah Valley Rhaiah Spooner-Knight leads the Wolverines with 14.3 points per game with Mariah Seals close behind with 11.9 points per game. Karlee Norris leads on the boards with an 8.1 average.
 
The contest at Seattle U marks the end of a four game homestand for the Redhawks, as well as an overall 11 of 12 home game stretch thus far this season. Taelor Ross leads with 11.1 points per game, while teammate Wilma Afunugo is also scoring in the double digits with 10.0. Afunugo also leads the team in rebounds with 6.9 per contest.
