Sargeant's duties also cross over into the realms of ticketing and retail, as he will manage the sale and distribution of game and season tickets as well as Wolverine merchandise.

"Lydell is a great hire for our athletic development team. He comes in with a wealth of experience and an enthusiasm to take us to the next level. I am excited for the Wolverine Club members to get to know him," said senior associate athletic director, Dr. Jared Sumsion. "Our student-athlete scholarship fund supports and strengthens our 330 student-athletes as they compete in the classroom and in competition. Lydell is a talented leader who will strengthen all of our collective revenue generation endeavors."

Sargeant joins the UVU staff having served as an Assistant Athletic Director at Penn State University and Executive Board Member of the Penn State Football Lettermen's Club.

Sargeant received his bachelor's degree from Penn State in 2009 where he played defensive back for legendary coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions from 2005-2008. As a four-year letterman and All-Big Ten cornerback, he was an influential member on Penn State's 2005 Orange Bowl and 2008 Rose Bowl teams. After Penn State, Sargeant went on to play in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills until suffering a career-ending knee injury in 2010. Following his NFL career, Sargeant served as an Assistant AD at Penn State and obtained his master's degree in sport management studies.

Sargeant grew up in a military household and has lived all over country, including Arizona, California, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Germany. He has strong relationships and an outstanding reputation on Capital Hill, having advised on U.S presidential campaigns and student voter registration committees. Sargeant also served as a NFLPA certified contract advisor, helping to represent over 40 current and former NFL players.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sargeant resides in Draper with his wife, Nicole.
