DALLAS – Utah Valley University saw its historic season end in a 2-0 loss in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament at No. 11 SMU on Thursday night at Westcott Field.

Making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament and in just the program's second season of competition, the Wolverines finish the 2015 season with a 14-6-2 record.

"I thought we were fantastic tonight. It's our first opportunity in the NCAA Tournament and I couldn't be more proud of our effort," UVU head coach
Greg Maas said. "We created a lot of chances that gave us a lot of hope but were just a little bit short in a couple of opportunities."

In the 24th minute, Brenden Lee rebounded a shot by Mauro Cichero for the Mustangs' (14-2-4) first goal. Lee then combined with Stanton Garcia on an assist in the 62nd minute, with Idrissa Camara finishing on a toe poke.

UVU had with 12 shots with three on goal, while SMU had 12 shots, four coming on goal. The Mustangs were whistled for 13 fouls and four yellow cards with Utah Valley having 10 fouls and one yellow called on its side. SMU now advances to face No. 13 national seed Denver on Sunday in the round of 32.
Utah Valley returns nearly its entire roster in 2016, with only one senior on the roster in
Tyler Brown. The 2015 campaign also saw the program reach the NSCAA Top 25 for two weeks during the regular season.
