OREM, Utah--Utah Valley University women's basketball is on a four-game win streak, after defeating Dixie State 77-63 on Saturday in the PE Building, with four Wolverines scoring in double digits.

Sophomore
Mariah Seals paced Utah Valley (4-1) with a season-high 16 points, while
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight tallied 11,
Rebecca MaWhinney put up 10 points (nine of those from three-pointers), and
Sam Loggins was the fourth Wolverine to score in double digits with 10.
Deijah Blanks tallied nine points, and junior
Karlee Norris earned eight. Patrics Toston and
Taylor Gordon tallied four points apiece, while
Georgia Agnew had three and
Kendall Perry had two to round out the UVU scoring.

Seals also grabbed five rebounds and had a season-high six assists on the night. Spooner-Knight led Utah Valley on the boards with nine, and Blanks and MaWhinney each pulled down four.

"Sometimes you just have to grind out a win, every game is different and has a different personality, and this one wasn't pretty. We had to work hard to finish this one out," head coach
Cathy Nixon said. "Each game you have to find a way to win, and I am proud of our girls for figuring that out today."

The Wolverines forced 21 turnovers on the Storm, which resulted in 24 points for Utah Vallley. UVU shot 16-of-23 from the charity stripe, while the Storm found the free-throw line just seven times (7-for-7). Utah Valley shot 46.0 percent from the field on the night and had 52 points inside the paint.

Utah Valley is on a four-game win streak, jumping out to an early 4-1 record, their best start since the 2007-08 season. The win also marks the first four game win streak since the 2012-13 season.

Dixie State (0-2) opened the contest on an 11-2 run, which was broken up by three Norris layups in thirty seconds to kick off a Wolverine 10-0 run. The Red Storm responded with a jumper and a three to regain the lead, and two Agnew layups closed the first quarter 16-14. In the second quarter, the Wolverines and the Red Storm traded baskets until Dixie State took the lead 31-28.

Halfway through the third quarter, Seals laid it in to tie the game 39-39, to kick off a 12-0 run, highlighted by a MaWhinney trey to give Utah Valley a 49-39 advantage. In the fourth quarter, the Red Storm closed the deficit to six at 58-52, but would get no closer as Utah Valley jumped out to a lead as high as 16 (75-59). Four DSU free throws and two seals free throws closed out the contest 77-63.

UVU will remain home to host San Francisco on Monday Nov. 23 in the UCCU Center.
