Konner Frey recorded a team-high 18 points while
Jaden Jackson and
Dayon Goodman each added 12 to lead the Utah Valley University men's basketball team in an 82-70 setback to UC Davis Saturday night at the UCCU Center.

With the loss, Utah Valley falls to 2-4 on the season, while UC Davis improves to 3-2.

The game went back-and-forth with 10 lead changes and six ties. The Wolverines took a 44-37 lead into halftime. With UVU leading 50-41 with 16:49 to play, UC Davis went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to tie the game at 50-50. Six lead changes later and tied 70-70 with 4:28 to play, Utah Valley could not find the bottom of the basket as UC Davis secured the win with a 12-0 run to take the 82-70 victory.

"The guys really battled and played hard," said Utah Valley head coach
Mark Pope. "That's what I'm asking of them is that they come and play as hard as you can and they are doing that tonight. We played our best half of basketball this season in the first half, but gave up too many boards in the second half. We're getting better but its fruitless when you don't finish it out with a win and that's what we have to do."

Frey recorded his sixth-straight double digit scoring game of the season with a game-high 18 points. The junior forward connected on 8-of-12 shots from the field, including a 2-of-5 mark from long range.

Dayon Goodman scored his career-high 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 clip from the field. He also knocked down 4-of-8 shots from the charity stripe. Jackson scored his 12 points on a 3-of-13 shots from the field with a pair of shots from beyond the arc. He went a perfect 4-of-4 from the stripe and dished out four assists.

Darrious Hamilton helped with eight points, while
Marcel Davis and
Cory Cardwell each scored six. Davis tallied a career-high nine assists with four rebounds.

Utah Valley continues play at home on Tuesday, Dec. 1 against Montana State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 960 AM radio.
