OREM, Utah—Fresh off three straight wins, the Utah Valley University men's basketball team continues road play this week a the Billy Minardi Classic in Louisville, Kentucky. The Wolverines will face UNC Wilmington on Tuesday before taking on No. 19 Louisville on Wednesday on ESPNU.
 
"We're excited to play in the Billy Minardi Classic," said Utah Valley head coach Mark Pope. "We will face two really good teams in UNCW and Louisville. It will be a huge challenge for us but we're ready to play hard and battle."
 
Utah Valley (5-6) looks for its fourth straight victory as the team heads into Tuesday's matchup with UNCW. The matchup with the Seahawks will mark UVU's first neutral site game of the season
 
The Wolverines head to Louisville fresh off an 83-78 win at UTSA on Saturday night. Marcel Davis paced UVU with a game-high 19 points while Hayes Garrity made a splash in his first action of the season with 17 points. Jaden Jackson and Konner Frey were also in double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Andrew Bastien led the Wolverines on the boards with 10 rebounds. UVU shot a season-best 54.5 percent from the floor, including a 45.8 percent clip from beyond the arc.
 
Frey continues to lead Utah Valley in both scoring and rebounding at 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Marcel Davis and Jaden Jackson also average double figures at 12.5 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.
 
UNCW enters Tuesday's game with a 5-3 overall record. The Seahawks opened the season with five straight wins, four of which came at home. The team has now dropped three straight on the road, including a 69-67 setback at Radford on Saturday. In the loss at Radford, junior guard Chris Flemmings led UNCW with 16 points and eight rebounds. C.J. Bryce (14), Craig Ponder (10) and Jordon Talley (10) also scored in double figures. Bryan Marcus led UNCW with eight rebounds.
 
Flemmings leads the Seahawks in scoring this season at 15.3 points a contest. Ponder also averages double digits at 12.9 points per game. Marcus fronts the team on the boards at 6.6 rebounds per game. UNCW averages 83.4 points a game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field on the year.
 
UNCW is coached by Kevin Keatts who is in his second season with the team. Keatts was the associate head coach at Louisville under head coach Rick Pitino. The second year coach led the Seahawks to their first postseason appearance in nine years as the team won the regular season Colonial Athletic Association title and earned a spot in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
 
Tuesday's meeting with the Seahawks marks the first-ever matchup between the two schools. The Wolverines are 0-3 all-time against teams from Conference USA.
 
Wednesday's matchup against 19th-ranked Louisville will mark UVU's first meeting against a top-25 team this season. The Wolverines are 0-5 all-time against teams ranked in the top-25 national polls. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU, marking the first time in UVU's history that it has been featured on one of the ESPN television networks.
 
The Cardinals enter Wednesday's holiday matchup against the Wolverines with a 9-1 overall record. Louisville's lone setback was a 71-67 loss at Michigan State. The Cardinals picked up a 78-56 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday night. Trey Lewis and Damion Lee each led the Cardinals with 15 points in the win over WKU. Chinanu Onuaku recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Lee leads Louisville in scoring at 18.3 points a contest. Lewis and Quentin Snider also average double figures at 13.8 and 10.4 points per game, respectively. Onuako leads the team on the boards at 7.5 rebounds a contest.
 
Louisville is led by hall-of-fame coach Rick Pitino. Pitino is in his 15th season with the Cardinals and led UofL to a national title in 2013. He is the first coach in NCAA history to win a national championship at two different schools. Pitino also won a national title at Kentucky in 1996. His team captain in 1996 was UVU head coach Mark Pope.
 
Tuesday's game against UNCW will tip off at 4:15 p.m. MST. Wednesday's matchup against Louisville will begin at 5 p.m. MST. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN 960 AM radio. Wednesday's game against the Cardinals will be broadcast on ESPNU.
