OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team will play its final contest of a five-game road stretch Monday night against Saint Mary's at 8 p.m. MST in McKeon Pavilion.

Utah Valley head's into Monday's matchup against the Gaels with a 5-8 overall record. The Wolverines look to snap a two-game skid after dropping games against UNC Wilmington and No. 16 Louisville last week at the Billy Minardi Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Wolverines most recently dropped a 98-68 decision at Louisville on Wednesday night. Junior forward
Konner Frey paced UVU with a team-high 17 points, while senior guard
Marcel Davis added 15 in the setback against the Cardinals. Frey connected on 6-of-14 shots from the field. He also hit three shots from long range. Davis knocked down 5-of-10 shots from the field, including a pair of shots from beyond the arc.
Jaden Jackson was also in double figures against U of L with 10 points.

Frey continues to lead Utah Valley in both scoring and rebounding at 15.4 points and 7.2 rebounds a contest.

Marcel Davis also average double figures at 12.5 and 12.4 points per game, respectively. Davis leads the team in assists at 4.31 a game, while junior center
Andrew Bastien leas the Wolverines in blocks at 2.56 a contest.

Saint Mary's heads into Monday's meeting against the Wolverines with an impressive 10-1 overall record, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. SMC has won 11 straight regular season home games against non-conference opponents. The Gaels opened West Coast Conference play last week with a 2-0 record, defeating San Francisco at home before downing Santa Clara on the road.

Sophomore guard Emmett Naar fronts four Saint Mary's players in double figures at 14.4 points a contest. Naar leads the nation from three-point range, shooting 63 percent from beyond the arc. Junior guard Joe Rahon ranks second on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per game. Naar and Rahon rank in the top-11 nationally in assists per game. Dane Pineau leads the team on the boards, averaging 8.9 rebounds a contest.

Freshman Evan Fitzner led the Gaels in the WCC wins over San Francisco and Santa Clara, averaging 20.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He shot 68.4 percent from the field and 61.5 percent from long range.

Saint Mary's averages 81.0 points per game while limiting opponents to a 58.1 average. The team leads the nation in field goal percentage (54.9 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (47.3 percent). The Gaels are tied for third nationally from beyond the arc, averaging 11.4 three-point field goals per game.
Monday's meeting with the Gaels marks the first-ever matchup between the two schools. Utah Valley holds an all-time 2-4 record against teams from the West Coast Conference.

Monday's game at McKeon Pavillion will tip-off at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on ESN 960 AM radio with Jim McCulloch handling the play-by-play duties. Following Monday's road game at SMC, UVU will return home to play San Diego Christian on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.
