OREM, Utah—Despite a first-inning home run from
Brianna Gatlin and a second-inning grand slam from
Tiani Hensley , the Utah Valley University softball team dropped a 6-5 decision to Weber State in the first game of a double-header Wednesday at Wolverine Field.

Gatlin hit a solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the first inning to help Utah Valley tie the game 1-1. After giving up a pair of runs in the top of the second inning that gave Weber State a 3-5 lead, Hensley sent a ball over the left field fence with bases load in the bottom of the second to give the Wolverines a 5-3 advantage.

Utah Valley was unable to score in the final five innings as Weber State sent a run across the plate in the fifth, sixth and seventh to claim a come-from-behind 6-5 win.

Bailey Moore worked 7.0 innings in the circle for the Wolverines with one strikeout. Kirtlyn Bohling picked up the win for the Wilcats, pitching 4.0 innings without giving up a run. She also recorded four strikeouts for the Wildcats.
