WOLVERINES TRAVEL TO PLAY UTEP, HOST PORTLAND STATE IN FINAL NON-CONFERENCE MATCHES OF THE SEASON
The Utah Valley University women's soccer team wraps up non-conference play this week as the team travels to play UTEP on Friday before returning home to welcome Portland State on Sunday.

Utah Valley (4-3-0) seeks its first road win of the season at UTEP on Friday. The Wolverines are 0-3-0 away from the friendly confines of Clyde Field this year. UVU looks to keep its perfect 4-0-0 home record alive when the Wolverines return home to host Portland State on Sunday.

"Traveling to play UTEP is always a challenge," said head coach Brent Anderson. "They are a good team and well coached. I have a lot of confidence in our team, they are working well together right now and they are looking to build on the Idaho State win from last weekend. The competition doesn't get any easier as we return home to face yet another quality side in Portland State. We will have to manage our time and resources well to make sure we are recovered and ready to compete at our highest level in Sunday."

The Wolverines head into this week's matches after taking down Idaho State 5-1 in the team's lone contest last week. Five different Utah Valley players scored a goal in the win, including Taylor Kirk, Sheridan Fox, Tori Smith, Rylee Gritton and Jamie Brown.

Fox currently leads the team in scoring with five goals, followed by Brown with four and Kasandra Anderson with two. Fox's five goals and 11 points this season currently leads the WAC. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Duffin leads the defensive effort with four wins, two shutouts and 29 saves in the box this year.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
UTEP most recently took a 1-0 overtime win at Nevada on Sept. 13 to improve to 6-3-0 on the season. UTEP has won two straight at home and holds a 3-2 record at University Field this year. Senior forward Angela Cutaia leads the Miners with six of the team's 19 goals this year. Cutaia also leads the squad with 13 points. Portland State defeated Air Force 1-0 in overtime last week to improve to 2-4-0. The Vikings look for their first road win of the season when they travel to play Oregon on Friday. Senior forward Cori Bianchini and freshman forward Megan Myers have each scored one of Portland State's two goals this season.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines will open Western Athletic Conference play next week at home against defending WAC champion Seattle U on Sept. 26.
