OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team heads out on its first WAC road trip of the season as the team travels to play Grand Canyon Saturday afternoon at GCU Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.

"Grand Canyon will be another big test for us," said Utah Valley head coach Mark Pope. "They are really big and they have a physical nature to their inside game. They can shoot the ball extraordinarily well and they are real aggressive with their pace. They play pretty free and have some smart players. They are really well coached. GCU is one of the programs in our league that is showing great strides and it will be a tough battle for us."

The Wolverines enter Saturday's matchup against the Antelopes with a 7-10 overall record. UVU evened up its WAC record at 1-1 after picking up a 98-65 win over UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday night at the UCCU Center.

Jaden Jackson led the Wolverines with a career-high 31 points in the win over UTRGV. The senior guard knocked down a school-record nine shots from beyond the arc, surpassing Holton Hunsaker (2012) and Ryan Toolson (2008) for the top spot. Ivory Young also set a career high with 17 points, while Konner Frey and Marcel Davis were also in double figures with 13 points apiece. As a team, UVU knocked down a season-high 15 threes in the win—the second-most threes in the team's history.

Frey continues to lead UVU in both scoring and rebounding at 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a contest. Jackson and Davis also average double figures at 14.2 and 13.2 points per game, respectively. Davis leads the team in assists at 4.5 a game, while Andrew Bastien fronts the team in blocks at 1.9 a game.

Grand Canyon heads into Saturday's game with an 15-2 overall record. The Antelopes are a perfect 2-0 in WAC play after defeating UT Rio Grande Valley and New Mexico State at home last week. The team has won eight straight dating back to an 88-59 win over Delaware State on Dec. 15.

GCU opened WAC play last week with a pair of home wins. The 'Lopes downed UTRGV 83-63 before snapping New Mexico State's 14-game WAC win streak with a 79-75 win over the Aggies. Joshua Braun led GCU in the win over NM State, recording his second double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The sophomore guard also posted 20 points in the win over UTRGV. Braun earned WAC Player of the Week honors for his performance last week. Braun leads the 'Lopes in scoring at 16.1 points a contest this season.

The Antelopes are coached by Dan Majerle, who is in his third season with the team. He holds a 47-32 record with the 'Lopes.

Saturday's meeting with the 'Lopes marks the sixth time that the two schools have met on the basketball hardwood. UVU holds an all-time 3-2 advantage over GCU, but were swept in last season's two-game WAC series. The Wolverines' last win over GCU was a 79-68 victory in Phoenix on Feb. 6, 2014.

Saturday's game will tip-off at 4 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network at WACsports.com/live. The game will also be broadcast locally on ESPN 960 AM radio with Jim McCulloch handling the play-by-play duties.
