OREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's basketball team will play host to Missouri-Kansas City and Chicago State on Thursday and Saturday this week in the UCCU Center, at 5 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

The Wolverines (7-11, 0-3 WAC) are looking for their first Western Athletic Conference win and to break a five-game slump. Utah Valley dropped their last contest to Grand Canyon (61-53) on Jan. 16, and their opening WAC contests at UTRGV (61-48) and New Mexico State (73-68).

"We are very excited for two more games at home. We are focusing on the process, and we are progressing as a team and playing relatively well," head coach
Cathy Nixon said. "Hopefully shots will fall for us and we will be able to come out with a couple wins this weekend."

SCOUTING THE ROOSMissouri-Kansas City (6-11, 1-3 WAC) come to the UCCU Center on a two-game losing streak, after dropping their last two WAC games to UTRGV (62-53) and NM State (68-62).
The winner will break a 2-2 overall series tie, with each team winning their home match-up the last two seasons. The Kangaroos last met the Wolverines in Orem on Feb. 26, 2015 where Utah Valley picked up a 61-51 win in overtime.

Roo Kiana Law leads the Western Athletic Conference in field goal percentage with a .493 margin and paces UMKC with 7.5 rebounds per game. Law is coming off a career-high 14 rebounds and 17 points in a double-double in the defeat against NM State.

The Roos picked up their solo WAC win in their conference opener at CSU Bakersfield 56-40 on Jan. 9.

ABOUT CHICAGO STATEChicago State (2-16, 0-3 WAC) comes to the UCCU Center on an eight-game losing streak, picking up just two wins on the season. The Cougars traveled to CSUB (76-43), Seattle U (59-45), and hosted UTRGV (64-56) and NM State (70-60) in their opening WAC contests this season. The Cougars will travel to see foe Grand Canyon on Thursday before coming to Orem.

Utah Valley leads 10-6 in the all-time series against Chicago State, splitting last season's contests with the respective home team earning the victory. The last contest was on Feb. 28, 2015 with a Wolverine win 68-53 in Orem.
