Orem, Utah—The Utah Valley University men's basketball team continues WAC play at the UCCU Center as the Wolverines host CSU Bakersfield on Saturday night. Tip-off against the Roadrunners is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Utah Valley heads into Saturday's game against the 'Runners with a 9-12 overall record. The team fell to 3-3 in WAC play after dropping a 73-62 decision to Seattle U on Thursday night. The game marks the final home game before the team heads out on a three-game road stretch.

Marcel Davis scored a team-high 16 points and Konner Frey added 14 in Thursday's setback to Seattle U. Davis scored his 16 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-point field goals. He hit 8-of-10 shots from the free throw line. Davis also pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists. Frey tallied his 14 points on a 4-of-9 clip from the floor, including one shot from long range. He pulled down eight rebounds and recorded an assist. Jaden Jackson was also in double figures with 12 points as he knocked down four shots from the field, including a pair of threes. He also registered three assists and three rebounds. Andrew Bastien recorded a game-high three blocks with eight rebounds and five points. Hayden Schenck recorded nine points with three rebounds.

Frey continues to lead the Wolverines in both scoring and rebounding at 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds a game. The junior forward ranks fourth in the WAC in scoring and fifth in rebounding. Jackson and Davis also average double figures at 14.8 and 13.6 points per game, respectively. Davis fronts the team in assists at 4.6 a contest, while Andrew Bastien leads the team in blocks at 1.8 a game.

CSU Bakersfield heads into Saturday's game with a 14-7 overall record. The Roadrunners dropped to 4-2 in WAC play after dropping a 70-64 decision at league leader Grand Canyon on Thursday night. The 'Runners had won six straight games before falling 68-67 to New Mexico State in double overtime last Saturday at home.

A couple of late threes couldn't make up the difference as CSU Bakersfield took a 70-64 loss at league leader Grand Canyon Thursday night. The 'Runners were led by Kevin Mays' 13 points and 10 rebounds. Aly Ahmed and Jaylin Airington each helped with 12 points. Ahmed leads three other 'Runners in double figures this season at 14.6 points per game.  Kevin Mays averages 12.6 points a contest and leads the team on the boards at 8.0 rebounds per game.

CSU Bakersfield is coached by Rod Barnes, who is in his fifth season with the team. He holds a 57-70 record with the Roadrunners.

"CSU Bakersfield is a really talented team," said Utah Valley head coach Mark Pope. "Bakersfield is one of those teams that is a step ahead of us right now in the sense of how we want to play. Bakersfield is a complete team on both ends of the floor. They are deep and play with a good pace to the game. It's a huge challenge."

Saturday's matchup with the Roadrunners marks the 14th time the two teams have met on the basketball hardwood. CSUB holds an all-time 7-6 advantage in the series. The two teams split last season's WAC series with each team winning on its home floor. The 'Runners then defeated UVU 55-40 in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament. UVU is 4-2 all-time against CSUB in games played at the UCCU Center in Orem.

Saturday's game will tip-off at 7 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on UVU TV. A live stream of the game will be available at WolverineGreen.com. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN 960 AM radio.
