WOLVERINES TRAVEL TO AIR FORCE, UMKC FOR KEY ROAD TRIP
Utah Valley University hits the road for a key, two-game WAC trip that begins on Friday at 7 p.m. MT at Air Force and ends on Sunday at UMKC in a 6 p.m. MT start. The game at Air Force -- an affiliate member of the WAC in men's soccer -- will air on the Mountain West Network with Sunday's match in Kansas City on the WAC Digital Network.

The trip wraps up the first half of the conference schedule for the Wolverines (9-3-0, 2-1-0), who are ranked No. 21 and No. 23 by TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News, respectively. Air Force finds itself at No. 29 in College Soccer News' Top 30 poll this week and is unbeaten in WAC play. Utah Valley is No. 20 in this week's NCAA RPI while the Falcons come in at No. 41.

"This weekend's slate of matches in the WAC should begin to paint a clearer picture in the overall standings," UVU head coach Greg Maas said. "This team is very determined and understands the opportunity in front of them. It's business as usual, one match at a time, and we look forward to going to battle at Air Force and UMKC."

UVU swept a pair of home matches last week, shutting out CSU Bakersfield, 3-0, and UT Rio Grande Valley, 1-0. Mitch Jensen made the first two starts of his career and was named the WAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Wolverine defense has been stubborn at home, notching four shutouts in five matches and allowing just one goal -- on a penalty kick -- so far this season. The Wolverines are tied for second in the country with seven shutouts and tied for 10th nationally in shutout percentage.

ABOUT THE FALCONS
Air Force sports the same overall record as Utah Valley at 9-3-0 overall and is one of two unbeatens in WAC play along with Seattle U. The Falcons will play five of their final seven games at home after opening the conference schedule with three straight road wins; at Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word and Grand Canyon. Air Force has won four straight overall.

The Falcons have one of the top offenses in the country, ranking second in nation goals scored and goals per game and are in the Top 20 in seven other offensive categories.  Utah Valley is 2-0-0 all-time against Air Force, winning 2-1 in 2014 on the road and again by a score of 2-1 at home in 2015.

ABOUT THE 'ROOS
UMKC is 2-6-1 overall and 1-1-1 in WAC play and is coming off of a 1-1 draw at Incarnate Word last week. The Kangaroos opened conference play with a 2-0 win at UT Rio Grande Valley before suffering a 2-1 home loss to Houston Baptist. UMKC plays host to Seattle U on Friday. Utah Valley has split its two prior matches against the 'Roos, falling 1-0 in Kansas City in 2014 before a 3-0 win last season in Orem.

COMING UP
The Wolverines begin the second half of WAC play next Friday, Oct. 21 at home against Houston Baptist. They travel to San José State two days later, on Sunday, Oct. 23. Following this weekend's trip, three of UVU's five remaining league games will be at Clyde Field in Orem.
