Live VideoLive StatsOREM, Utah—The Utah Valley University women's basketball team will remain home to host CSU Bakersfield in the annual Pink game in support of breast cancer awareness on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the PE Building.
Fans who wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness will be admitted to the game free of admission.
The Wolverines (11-13, 4-5 WAC) split a pair of home contests last week, picking up a 71-57 win over UTRGV on Thursday and then fell to New Mexico State on Saturday 59-53. After the contests,
Sam Loggins leads the Western Athletic Conference in shooting percentage at .502 from the field.
Mariah Seals leads the Wolverines with 11.3 points per game overall, but Loggins paces Utah Valley in conference play through nine games with 13.3 points per contest.
"This is another big game for us, the last time we played Bakersfield we showed that we can compete with them, but we have to take care of the ball or we will have the same result," head coach
Cathy Nixon said. "Our team is playing well and we want to finish another great game at home."
Utah Valley saw CSU Bakersfield on their last road trip and fell to the Roadrunners on Jan. 30 61-54, starting a three-game winning streak for CSUB. After the victory over UVU, the Runners now lead UVU 9-3 in the series overall. Bakersfield then defeated UMKC (78-68) and Chicago State (74-61) on the road last week.
The Roadrunners are led by reigning WAC Player of the Week, Batabe Zempare with 11.4 points per game and nine rebounds per game. Teammate Alyssa Shannon paces the Runners with 4.4 assists per game and 1.9 steals per game.
The game will be broadcast live on WolverineGreen.com and a StatBroadcast will be available. The contest is slated for 3 p.m. MT in the PE Building and tickets are on sale in the UCCU Center ticket office.
