SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Utah Valley University was stunned on a late goal in a 2-1 loss at Incarnate Word in WAC men's soccer on Friday night.
The Cardinals were awarded a corner kick in the 90th minute and got a goal from Darius Feldman on a scrum in front of the goal with just 7.4 seconds left in the match.
The Wolverines (3-7-1, 0-2-1) got a goal from
Gui Leme in the 46th minute -- his third of the season -- minute on an assist from
Austin Buxton to take a 1-0 lead.
Incarnate Word (3-6-1, 1-2-0) earned the equalizer from Johnathan Diaz in the 60th minute on a shot from the top of the box and into the upper right 90.
Feldman's game-winner came after a yellow card stopped the clock and gave the Cardinals a corner kick with 14 seconds left in the match. After an initial shot and save by UVU goalkeeper
Joseph Wheelwright, Feldman was able to send UIW to the win.
Utah Valley now heads to Edinburg, Texas for a Sunday afternoon, 1 p.m. MT, match at UT Rio Grande Valley. The Vaqueros drew with No. 18 Seattle U, 2-2, on Friday afternoon.
