UVU hosts WAC rival Seattle U on Saturday night

UTAH VALLEY HOSTS WAC RIVAL SEATTLE U
The Utah Valley University women's soccer team wraps up WAC regular season play on Saturday night as the Wolverines host league rival Seattle U at Clyde Field at 7 p.m. The game will be a rematch of last year's WAC Tournament championship match, which UVU won on penalty kicks. The game marks UVU's final tune-up for the Wolverines before hosting the WAC Tournament, Oct. 31, Nov. 2, and Nov. 4.

The Wolverines head into Saturday's match after going 0-1-1 last week. The team dropped a 1-0 decision to WAC leader UMKC before playing to a 0-0 double overtime draw at Grand Canyon. The shutout against Grand Canyon marked UVU keeper Sarah Davis' third shutout in UVU's last five games. The shutout was UVU's fourth of the season.

Sadie Brockbank leads the Wolverines with 17 points this season, collecting a team-best seven goals with three assists. Whitney Paskins follows closely behind with four goals and one assist for nine points. Alexis Peterson, Sara Callister, and Julianna Carter each have two goals, followed by Amber Tripp, Breanna McCarter, and Leesa Stowe with one goal each. Brockbank, McCarter, Tripp, Stowe, and Brown front the team with three assists apiece. Brockbank leads the team with 45 shots, including a team-best 19 on frame. Brooklyn Nielsen has played 11 games in the box, while Sarah Davis has nine games. Davis leads the team with a 0.99 goals against average and three shutouts.

Saturday night's match will broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network (WACsports.com/watch) with Brandon Crow on the play-by-play and former Wolverine Melanie Ostler providing color commentator duties. The game will also be broadcast live on UVU's YouTube channel at YouTube.com/GoUVU.

ABOUT SEATTLE U
Seattle U is tied for second place in the WAC with a 5-1-1 record and 16 points. The team holds a 7-7-3 overall record this season. The Redhawks bring a five-game unbeaten streak to Clyde Field on Saturday night. The team picked up a 3-1 win over WAC leader UMKC at home on Senior Night last week. Freshman midfield Bailey Hall, junior midfielder Holly Rothering, and sophomore forward Leahi Manthei all scored for Seattle U in the win over the 'Roos. SU is the only WAC team to defeat UMKC this season. Manthei earned WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance against UMKC as she assisted the first goal of the game before finding the back of the net in the 78th minute to secure the win. Junior forward Jessie Ray leads the Redhawks in goals (7), assists (6), and points (20), and shots on goal (19) this season. Freshman keeper Ariana Romero leads the team defensively in the box with a 6-6-1 record and three shutouts. Romero also has 61 saves and a 1.06 goals against average. Seattle U is coached by Julie Woodward who is in her 22nd season with the team. She has led SU to four WAC regular season titles and three WAC Tournament titles since the team joined the WAC in 2012.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SEATTLE U
Utah Valley and Seattle U will meet on the pitch for the 18th time on Saturday night. SU holds an all-time 13-2-2 series advantage over the Wolverines. The two teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie in last year's WAC Tournament before UVU claimed the title on penalty kicks, 3-1. UVU has picked up its only wins in the series over the last three years, winning in 2015 and last season in Orem.

CLYDE FIELD MAGIC
Utah Valley holds an impressive 73-36-11 all time record at Clyde Field. The team has lost just six matches over the past four seasons on the home pitch. UVU went 5-1-0 at home last season, including wins over Wyoming, Seattle U, New Mexico State, UT Rio Grande Valley, and Grand Canyon. The Wolverines went 5-2-1 during the 2016 season and were unbeaten at home during the 2015 season with a 9-0-1 mark. UVU has consistently ranked in the top-40 nationally in attendance.
