UVU hits road for first time to face Utes in SLC

OPENING TIP

  • Utah Valley will take a short trip up I-15 to play its first road contest of the season, at the University of Utah on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. MT in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
  • Despite a loss in their most recent contest on Thursday, UVU is off to its best start since the 2015 season, when the Wolverines began 6-1.
  • Junior Jordan Holland established a new career high with 21 points last week in a win over Arizona Christian. She leads the team with an average of 13.3 ppg while Eve Braslis leads UVU with 6.5 rebounds per game. 
  • Utah leads the all-time series against UVU, 6-0, with five of those games coming in Salt Lake City. 
  • UVU will play all five in-state Division I programs this year with Utah serving as the second of the five. The Wolverines will face the Utah schools over a six-game stretch that ends on Dec. 18 against Weber State.
     

ABOUT THE UTES
Utah moved to 6-0 after an 89-62 win over WAC program Seattle University at home on Monday. The Utes are 4-0 in the Huntsman Center so far this season. Senior and first-team All-Pac 12 Megan Huff leads three players averaging in double figures with 19.5 points per game while also pulling down 9.7 rebounds. Huff has also shot nearly 54 percent from long range for the Utes, who are among those receiving votes in the AP Top 25. 

THE WEEK THAT WAS
Utah Valley moved to 4-1 with a 76-68 win over Arizona Christian the day before Thanksgiving. Jordan Holland scored a new career-high 21 points for the Wolverines. In the latest contest on Thursday against BYU, the Wolverines were out-rebounded 54-27 en route to a 77-51 defeat. Alexis Cortez finished with 10 points to lead the Wolverines

UP NEXT
Saturday's contest starts a string of four straight road contests with UVU at Southern Utah next Tuesday, and at Idaho State next Thursday, Dec. 6. They'll wrap up the four-game swing on Dec. 15 at Utah State.
