UTAH VALLEY LOOKS TO EXTEND HOME WIN STREAK AGAINST IDAHO STATE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Fresh off a win at Weber State on Saturday night, Utah Valley looks to extend its home win streak to 19 games as the team hosts Idaho State on Wednesday night at the UCCU Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Utah Valley is currently tied for the fourth-longest active home win streak in the nation at 18 games. South Dakota State holds the nation's longest active home win streak at 26 games, followed by Houston (23), Charleston (21), Utah Valley (18), and Montana (18).
Utah Valley has won seven of its last eight games, including a first-ever win in Ogden last week over Weber State. The lone setback during that stretch was an 80-69 setback at Pac-12 foe Arizona on Dec. 8.
Jake Toolson recorded a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead Utah Valley to a 75-63 win over Weber State on Saturday night at the Dee Events Center. The win marks the first-ever win in Ogden as the Wolverines were 0-5 prior to Saturday's victory. It also marks the first road win for either team in the opposing team's arena as UVU was previously 0-6 at the Dee Events Center. Weber State is 0-5 at the UCCU Center.
Jake Toolson leads Utah Valley in scoring at 15.5 points per game, followed closely behind by
Conner Toolson at 14.6 points a contest. The Toolson duo has scored nearly 40 percent of UVU's points this season. Jake has been impressive from the floor, shooting 55.3 percent (68-of-123), including a team-best 50 percent (26-of-52) clip from three-point range.
Baylee Steele leads UVU on the boards, pulling down 8.3 rebounds a game, while
TJ Washington leads the team in assists at 4.42 a game.
Utah Valley ranks in the top-50 in four statistical team categories and one individual category. The Wolverines rank 25th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 39.4 percent. The team also ranks 29th nationally both defensive rebounds per game (29.33) and total rebounds (457). UVU also ranks 35th in the country in three-point field goals made (106). Individually,
Baylee Steele holds the highest national ranking as he is 33rd in total rebounds with 99.

Wednesday night's game against Idaho State will be broadcast live on UVUtv and the WAC Digital Network (WACdigitalNetwork.com). UVU has also entered into a new partnership with KSLtv. The KSLtv app will be streaming all home UVU men's basketball games live. The game will also be streamed live through the GoUVU YouTube channel, and on the GoUVU Facebook page. Brandon Crow and Holton Hunsaker will be on the call. The game will also be broadcast over the radio waves as Jim McCulloch enters his ninth season as the radio play-by-play personality. ABOUT IDAHO STATE
Idaho State enters Wednesday night's game with a 4-3 overall record. The 4-3 start to the season is the best start since the 2005-06 season when the team opened with a 6-1 record. The team has won two straight, including three of its last four. The Bengals have not played a game since picking up a 68-66 win at Santa Clara on Dec. 7. Junior center Kelvin Jones led ISU with a career-high 20 points in the win at Santa Clara. Junior guard Brandon Boyd leads the team in scoring at 16.1 points per game. He is the lone Bengal averaging double figures. The team has a balanced scoring attack with five other players averaging 8-plus points a game. Junior forward Chier Maker leads the team on the boards, averaging 7.3 boards a game. As a team, ISU is averaging 80.9 points per game while allowing opponents an 80.3 points per game average. The team is averaging 10.1 threes per game. Former Wolverine Jared Stutzman starts for the Bengals. The junior guard/forward is averaging 8.9 points per game, mostly from three-point range.
SERIES HISTORY VS. IDAHO STATE, BIG SKY
Utah Valley and Idaho State meet on the basketball hardwood for the 11th time on Wednesday night. Utah Valley holds an all-time 6-4 advantage in the series. The Wolverines have won five straight games over the Bengals, including an 84-71 win in Pocatello last season. ISU's last win over UVU took place on Dec. 19, 2006 in Pocatello with the Bengals taking a 76-62 victory. UVU holds an all-time 3-1 advantage in games played in Orem. UVU took an 82-73 win the last time the two teams met in Orem on Nov. 16, 2016. Utah Valley holds an all-time 25-25 record against teams from the Big Sky Conference. UVU grabbed its first win of the 2017-18 season and improved to 1-2 for the year. ISU dropped to 0-2.
Kenneth Ogbe got things rolling offensively for the Wolverines with a three-pointer, and
Jake Toolson followed with back-to-back buckets in the paint. Ogbe and
Jake Toolson combined for UVU's first 11 points of the game.

Coming out of the under-12 timeout, the Wolverines went on a 7-0 run to take a 21-17 lead.
Ben Nakwaasah came off the bench to spark the run with steals on back-to-back plays. Idaho State answered with a 6-0 run later on to grab a one-point advantage, but a three from
Jake Toolson with two minutes remaining in the half helped Utah Valley reclaim the lead.

The Wolverines scored the final six points of the half, including a three from
Isaac Neilson, and took a 36-30 advantage into the locker room.
Jake Toolson led the offensive attack for UVU in the first half with 16 points on a 7-of-9 clip from the field. Three different Utah Valley players grabbed three rebounds, including
Brandon Randolph who added two assists and Nakwaasah who grabbed two steals.

The Bengals came out of the half hot and tied the game at 38 apiece, but
Akolda Manyang scored back-to-back buckets, including a big dunk, and got a block on the defensive end to help the Wolverines recover.
Jake Toolson continued his hot shooting night with consecutive makes of his own to put UVU up 46-41.

Manyang and
Jake Toolson continued to pace the Utah Valley attack, and with 7:49 to go in the game, a layup from Randolph gave the Wolverines a 67-56 lead and forced an ISU timeout. The eleven-point margin was the largest of the game to that point. Out the timeout, UVU extended its lead to 16 with a
Conner Toolson three and a fast-break layup by Neilson off an Ogbe steal.

The Wolverine defense would not allow the Bengals to get closer than 13 for the remainder of the game, and the lead grew to as big as 19 on another three from
Conner Toolson.

Jake Toolson's career night ended with 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 1-of-1 from the charity stripe. He also tied for the game high in assists with four and was second on the team in rebounding with five boards. Manyang finished his night with 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking one shot. Randolph also dished out four assists for UVU and chipped in eight points. Neilson was the third Wolverine in double figures with 11 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting. As a team, UVU finished the night shooting 52.3 percent from the field.

UVU PICKS UP FIRST-EVER WIN IN OGDEN, DEFEATS WEBER STATE 75-63

Utah Valley improves to 8-4 overall with the win while Weber State falls to 5-5. The Wolverines have now won six of their last seven games. The game is the final game of a three-game road stretch for UVU.

The Wolverines used a 26-6 run, highlighted by an
Isaiah White dunk, to take a commanding 30-12 lead with 6:20 to go in the first half. Both teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the half. Utah Valley used suffocating defense as they took a 41-23 lead into the half. The Wolverines doubled up the Wildcats on the glass and shot poured in 26 points in the paint.

The Wildcats opened up the second half with a 12-5 run to trim the lead down to 11 with 12:45 in the second half but were never able to get the game back to single digits. Toolson hit a big three in the corner to stop the Wildcats run and shift the momentum back to the Wolverines. Weber State made one last push with a 7-0 run to cut the lead back to 60-49 with 6:21 left but Utah Valley was able to hold on for the win.
Toolson led the Wolverines with 19 points with a career-high 12 rebounds.
Baylee Steele fell one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Ben Nakwaasah led Utah Valley with four assists to go along with nine points.

The Wolverines finished the night shooting 47 percent while holding the Wildcats to under a 37 percent mark. Utah Valley outrebounded Weber State 45-37 and outscored the Wildcats 46-28 in the paint.

UVU RECORDS THIRD-BEST THREE-POINT SHOOTING PERFORMANCE IN SCHOOL HISTORY -- 13TH-BEST SINGLE-GAME PERFORMANCE IN NATION THIS SEASON
Utah Valley connected on 62.5 percent of its threes in a 98-78 win at Northern Arizona on Dec. 8 in Flagstaff. The Wolverines knocked down 15-of-24 shots from beyond the arc. The 62.5 percent shooting is the third-best three-point shooting percentage in school history. The three-point shooting performance at NAU is tied for the 13th-best shooting percentage mark in the nation this season. UVU shot 66.7 percent twice in wins over Haskell (1/4/11) and against UTRGV (3/13/14). The 15 threes is tied for the fourth-best total in UVU history. The Wolverines knocked down a school-record 18 threes in a win at BYU (11/26/16) two seasons ago.
CONNER TOOLSON MOVES UP ON THE CAREER LISTS
Conner Toolson is now tied for third with UVU great Ronnie Price (2003-05) on the all-time UVU steals list with 108 take aways. He is now just two steals away from tying Ben Aird (2010-14) for the second spot on the steals chart. He ranks fifth on the made threes list with 159 and is just two threes away from tying Price for fourth on that chart. Toolson ranks ninth on UVU's all-time scoring list with 978 points. He needs just 22 points to become just the eighth player in UVU history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Utah Valley won a school-record 16 games at home last season, finishing the 2017-18 campaign with a school-record 16-1 record at home, surpassing the previous record of 14-1 set by the 2006-07 team. Utah Valley is tied with Montana for the nation's fourth-longest active home win streak in the nation at 18 games behind South Dakota State (26), Houston (23), and Charleston (21). The Wolverines look to extend their win streak to 19 games on Wednesday night against Idaho State. The previous UVU home win streak record was 17 games, which was set from the 2004-05 season to the 2005-06 season.
