OPENING TIP
- Coming off of two straight home wins last week, Utah Valley University finishes up non-conference play on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT/3 p.m. MT at Cal State Fullerton.
- The Wolverines (6-6) defeated UC Riverside last Saturday, 56-53, after Alexis Cortez hit a jumper with 19.4 seconds remaining to break a 53-53 tie.
- Eve Braslis had her first career double-double, scoring 12 points (on 6-of-8 shooting) and pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds.
- Jordan Holland leads the Wolverines in scoring at 12.3 per game while Braslis is scoring 10.2 and grabbing a team-high 6.7 rebounds. Maria Carvalho is averaging 4.7 assists per game, which ranks third in the WAC.
- Cal State Fullerton owns a 2-1 all-time series record against Utah Valley including a 73-36 win last year in Orem. The two prior games in the series came in 2006 and 2007 with both teams winning at home.
LAST TIME OUT
Holland led the Wolverines with 13 points in the 56-53 win over UC Riverside on Saturday in the UCCU Center. Cortez' game-winner gave her nine points while Gabrielle Leos also scored nine. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, the Wolverines held off in-state foe Weber State, 65-59, after Josie Williams scored 10 of her team-high 12 points during a 5-for-5 stretch in the fourth quarter. Holland had 11 for UVU in the win.
ABOUT THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton (7-5) dropped a 72-64 contest to Pacific last Saturday to see its five-game winning streak snapped. The Wolverines are the fourth WAC school the Titans will play this season. Fullerton is 3-0 against the WAC with a road win at Seattle U and home wins over California Baptist and CSU Bakersfield. Daeja Smith leads four players scoring in double figures with 14.2 per game while also hauling in 9.9 rebounds per contest. She finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds in the Titans' win over the Wolverines last season.
