OREM, Utah - Utah Valley swept Chicago State on Monday night at home, 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-21), as the team tallied a season-high .365% attack average with four Wolverines posting a .300% or higher individually.
All three sets belonged to the Wolverines as they collected double-digit kills with 16 kills in the first set, 18 in the second and 13 in the third. Utah Valley out-hit Chicago State, 47-30, outnumbered CSU in blocks, 8-3 and out-dug the Cougars, 42-33. As a team, UVU posted a monster attack percentage in the first set at .682%, marked a .455% in the second and finished with a .155% in the third for the Wolverines season-high average of .365%.
UVU held solid against CSU as the Wolverines also posted an 83% sideout average in the first set and a 73% in the second. At the net, UVU collected 8.5 blocks against the Cougars front line to only allow CSU to post a .122% hitting average.
Kazna Tarawhiti marked a career conference high .538% average with 16 total kills, alongside
Kaili Downs with nine kills for a .400% and
Megan Childs with six kills for a .556%.
Jasmine Niutupuivaha led the Wolverine defense with four blocks.
UVU marks the victory with a 4-3 WAC record and will remain in Orem to face off against Seattle U on Saturday, October 19 at 12pm MT in the Lockhart Arena.
