KANSAS CITY—Utah Valley wrapped up its road trip to the Midwest with a 1-1 record after dropping a 1-0 decision to Kansas City on Sunday afternoon at Durwood Stadium.

The loss snaps UVU's three-match win streak as the Wolverines fall to 8-7-1 overall and 3-2-0 in WAC play. The win is Kansas City's first WAC victory of the season as the 'Roos improve to 9-3-4 overall and 1-2-2 in league play.

"We played hard and left it all out there," said Utah Valley head coach
Chris Lemay. "In this game you sometimes need a little bit of luck on your side and we didn't get that today. We set ourselves up with a lot of good opportunities on goal but just couldn't find the back of the net and that's unfortunate."

Kansas City scored the lone goal of the match in the 47th minute as Liz Mann headed in a corner kick from the left side from Amanda Sampson.

Utah Valley out-shot Kansas City 14-11 on the day.
Julianna Carter led the Wolverines with three shots, including two on frame.

Sadie Brockbank, and
Amber Tripp each had two shots. UVU had four corner kicks to Kansas City's four.

Allie Jara made five spectacular saves in the box for the Wolverines on the 11 shots she faced.

The Wolverines had numerous chances to tie the game late in the second half. Carter nearly put a ball into the goal in the 81st minute, while
Jenna Shepherd just missed on a shot in the 83rd minute. Five of UVU's 14 shots came in the final 10 minutes of the match.

Utah Valley now returns to Orem to play its final two home matches of the season. The Wolverines will host UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, Oct. 24 before welcoming Grand Canyon to Clyde Field on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff for both matches is set for 6 p.m. (MT)
