FINAL ROAD TRIP TAKES UVU TO SAN JOSÉ AND SEATTLE
Utah Valley University men's soccer enters the downhill stretch of regular season WAC play with its final two road contests of the season this week. The Wolverines (8-4-1, 5-1-0) will play at San José State on Friday night at 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT and at WAC-leading Seattle U on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT/2 p.m. MT.Â
Five games remain on the schedule and the Wolverines are currently in second place with 15 points in the standings, one point back of Seattle U and three in front of Air Force, which sits in third.Â
"This is a pivotal week in the WAC for everyone as we enter the homestretch of conference play," UVU head coach Greg Maas said. "Away matches at San José and Seattle are always a battle, but we're road-tested, and the boys are very motivated to get back on the pitch against two very good opponents with everything to play for."
Blake Frischknecht continues to lead the conference in goals scored after picking up his ninth in last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Kansas City. The setback ended a five-game winning streak for the Wolverines but was Frischknechts eighth goal in the last nine matches. He's tied for the national lead with five game-winning goals and ranks second in the WAC with 18 points. His nine goals is currently tied for the single-season school record.Â
